Are you Stuck in a Thought Loop?
So, what’s a thought loop?
Brooke Castillo describes a thought loop as “a thought error that tends to happen in our brain and is reminiscent of the Obsessive Compulsive Disorder but is something that we can easily control“.
I remember having a tough conversation and thought looping afterwards.
It was brutal and paralyzing for hours.
All I did was sit there and second guess myself.
Did I do the right thing?
Did I say the right thing?
Have I made the right decision?
What have I done?
Basically, I couldn’t stop thinking about it, and it was very uncomfortable.
I learned long ago that we need to be willing to be uncomfortable in order to grow.
dariusforoux.com says “if you’re stuck inside a negative thought loop, know that you only have two options:
- You continue and let it destroy you
- You let go and move on
The choice is yours. And yes, it’s that simple.
Decide between those two options and see for yourself.”
There’s actually another option…You can do something productive with that same energy!
Instead of using the energy to stay in a thought loop, use the energy to exercise, write something, or create something!
Use it to your advantage!
After my own thought loop situation, I wrote something, moved on, and soon after I was thrilled about that conversation!
Have you ever been stuck in a thought loop? What did you do?
