Why We Need To Enjoy Life’s Simple Pleasures!

There’s so much going on in the world today, which can lead to stress and anxiety!
Many of us get caught up in the stress and forget the “little things” that bring us joy!
Life is much simpler when we can stop and be grateful for everything around us.
Psychology Today says “Studies have linked gratitude with increased satisfaction, motivation, and energy; better sleep and health; and reduced stress and sadness. Grateful people are much more engaged with their environment, leading to greater personal growth and self-acceptance, and stronger feelings of purpose, meaning, and specialness“.
One beautiful habit to start, is to write 5 – 10 things about what we’re grateful for in a daily gratitude journal.
There are so many ways to create joy by remembering the simple pleasures that exist in our day such as:
- Being surrounded by candlelight
- Petting our animals
- A comfy blanket
- Early morning exercise as the rest of the world sleeps
- Sitting outside listening to the birds singing
- Smelling the scent of trees on a walk
- Sleeping on fresh clean sheets
- Drinking a cup of tea
Daily self-care is important, and enjoying and recognizing the simplest of pleasures is a way to enjoy our daily lives even more and create positive emotions.
“It’s life’s simple pleasures – the moments, sensations, and actions that we experience, feel, and do every day, often without taking notice – that can lead to an unequivocal amount of joy” according to Goodnet.com.
