Achieving Success Through Resilience!

In the journey to success, one key factor is resilience.
The definition of resilience is the capacity to withstand or to recover quickly from difficulties.
“The difference between a strong man and a weak one is that the former does not give up after a defeat.” – Woodrow Wilson
Resilience is the ability to bounce back from challenges and learn from failures.
Very Well Mind says that there are different ways you can show resilience such as:
🔺 Trying to take a positive perspective on situations
💪🏼 Viewing challenges as learning opportunities
🔺 Regulating emotions and expressing feelings in appropriate ways
💪🏼 Focusing on the things you can control instead of dwelling on what you cannot change
🔺 Recognizing that cognitive distortions are false
💪🏼 Reframing negative thoughts to be more realistic and positive
Resilience plays a vital role in helping individuals navigate life’s most challenging moments and eventually finding a way to move forward positively.
Strong Connections!
Resilient individuals often have strong connections with friends, family, and mentors, that provide encouragement and guidance.
Many are part of a community such as book clubs or hobby type groups, which is equally important.
Taking care of our health, by staying physically active, taking breaks when needed, and eating nutritious foods is another important part of resilience.
Tackling difficulties and overcoming obstacles, keep us moving forward with determination, even when faced with adversity.
One amazing example of someone overcoming adversity is Alden Gibbs Jr. who continues to live his life to the fullest each and every day, despite a severe spinal cord injury!
The famous quote by Friedrich Nietzsche “That which does not kill us makes us stronger” makes sense especially in Alden’s case.

There’s No Can’t!
Alden is a perfect example of what’s possible and focuses on what he can do, not what he can’t.
Psych Central says “The challenging part is actually taking the necessary steps to face adversity and rise above it, when life throws a curveball. It is little surprise that resiliency has been linked to greater well-being for a variety of populations, including those of childhood trauma, those in life transitions, and those in team development and skills-building”.
Alden has risen above his situation and his goal in life is to inspire others to live happy and fulfilling lives.
As Maya Angelou reminds us “I can be changed by what happens to me. But I refuse to be reduced by it.”
