Magnesium is a mineral found in your body and in the earth’s crust, and needed for healthy bones, muscles, heart, and nerves. It helps your body control blood sugar, energy, and blood pressure.

Magnesium is a crucially important mineral for optimal health. It performs a wide array of biological functions, including:

  1. Activating muscles and nerves
  2. Creating energy in your body
  3. Helping digest proteins, carbohydrates, and fats
  4. Supports a healthy immune system
  5. Helps adjust blood glucose levels

Magnesium has a therapeutic value and can be used for many symptoms like anxiety, asthma, blood clots, and a number of others.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, “magnesium is at work in every cell of your body. It helps convert food into energy, regulate your nervous system and create new proteins“.

Do You Have a Magnesium Deficiency?

Some suffer from magnesium deficiency, which can be hard to diagnose, and many initial symptoms could indicate a wide variety of other health issues.

Signs of a magnesium deficiency include fatigue, muscle spasms, weakness or stiffness. Nausea and loss of appetite are other common symptoms.

Watch the video below.

Pain killers, diuretics, antibiotics, and cortisone can deplete magnesium, and if you’re a smoker or drinker, watch out!  Smoking, and drinking coffee and alcohol, can contribute to magnesium deficiency, and block absorption!

If you think you might be deficient in magnesium, you may want to check with your healthcare provider about a blood test.

Magnesium deficiency is diagnosed via a blood test and sometimes a urine test. Your doctor may order the blood test if you have symptoms such as weakness, irritability, abnormal heart rhythm, nausea and/or diarrhea, or if you have abnormal calcium or potassium levels” according to healthdirect.

Magnesium is Found in Foods:

Magnesium can be found in foods such as almonds, cashews, peanuts, brown rice, beans, raisins, dates, bananas, broccoli, and avocados.

If you aren’t getting enough magnesium in your foods, your health care provider may suggest supplementation.

The book, “The Magnesium Miracle” is a great read and full of helpful information and covers:
