Let’s talk about the benefits of laughter!

Milton Berle famously quoted “Laughter is an instant vacation.”

Ever heard the saying “Laughter is the Best Medicine“?

Well, it turns out there’s some science behind it.

Have you ever noticed how good you feel after laughing?

Laughing triggers the release of endorphins, and can give you a mini workout.

There are also some long-term health benefits, and studies show that regular laughter can boost your immune system, improve blood flow, and protect your heart.

“Humor and playful communication strengthen our relationships by triggering positive feelings and fostering emotional connection. When we laugh with one another, a positive bond is created. This bond acts as a strong buffer against stress, disagreements, and disappointment” according to welllifefm.com.

Long Term Benefits of Laughter!

The Mayo Clinic says that “laughter isn’t just a quick pick-me-up, it’s also good for you over the long term. Laughter may:

😂 Improve your immune system. Negative thoughts manifest into chemical reactions that can affect your body by bringing more stress into your system and decreasing your immunity. By contrast, positive thoughts can actually release neuropeptides that help fight stress and potentially more-serious illnesses.
🤭 Relieve pain. Laughter may ease pain by causing the body to produce its own natural painkillers.
😂 Laughter may Increase personal satisfaction. Laughter can also make it easier to cope with difficult situations. It also helps you connect with other people.
🤭 Improve your mood. Many people experience depression, sometimes due to chronic illnesses. Laughter can help lessen your stress, depression and anxiety and may make you feel happier. It can also improve your self-esteem.

Even laughter before bed sets a positive tone, and contributes to a more restful nights sleep.

Have you ever heard of laughter yoga?

What comes to mind when you think about it??

Do you picture somebody in a downward dog, or child’s pose, giggling?

Sounds funny, and that’s not what it is!

What exactly is laughter yoga ?

First of all, Laughter Yoga does not involve traditional yoga poses or mats.

Laughter Yoga classes are held around the world, and combine deep breathing with intentional laughter, requiring no jokes or humor.

This practice is based on scientific evidence showing that both genuine and simulated laughter provide similar physical and psychological health benefits.


No Need to Speak!

Laughter Yoga!Because of all the positive benefits, people return again and again, and if you happen to be shy, no worries!

These sessions don’t demand speaking, and you still get the benefits.

My friend Laura and I are both certified laughter yoga leaders, and we host a monthly 30 minute class, every third Saturday at 10 AM Pacific on Zoom.
