It’s Time To Finally Get Serious About Healthy Eating!

a whole tray of healthy colorful vegetables

Are you one of thousands of people who’ve once again declared that you’re going to be eating better and that health is on its way?

I hear you and remember saying that myself when years ago, as I used to “live to eat”.

I want to tell you a little story…

My entire life used to revolve around mindless eating and going out for meals because food was delicious and comforting!

Unfortunately a lot of “delicious” food is unhealthy and loaded with salt, fat and ingredients that I can’t even pronounce.

I admit it, when I was younger I used to indulge in pizza, ice cream and cheesecake.

In fact, I couldn’t get enough of it.

It was a crazy way of eating.

One day, while putting on my pants to go work, I thought “hey, wait a minute, my clothes are shrinking.”

Well, of course they weren’t shrinking, I was expanding.

Before the weight gain got way out of hand, I attempted to put a stop to the madness by starving myself (that didn’t last) and trying all kinds of crazy diets.

None had lasting effects or taught me how to eat, I just lost weight and then gained it back.

Does the term yo-yo mean anything to you?

I was an emotional eater, it didn’t matter if I was happy, sad, excited or mad…I ate!

At one point, I thought enough is enough and ended up at Diet Center where I learned how to eat more healthy.

I drove there and weighed in daily for months and managed to hit my goal weight.

Woo hoo!

I was so proud!

After that experience my weight started creeping back up, so I joined Weight Watchers, where I learned portion control.

I hit my goal weight again and became a lifetime member.

I never gained the weight back.

Since then, I’ve spent a lot of time pouring my efforts into researching nutrition, wellness and brain health.

I went “low carb” for a few years, then in 2011 became a vegetarian and never looked back.

That’s the short story…

I stopped “living to eat” and started “eating to live” after I figured out how good my body felt inside.

It’s unbelievable how good the body feels when eating nutrient rich foods instead of junk food!

I feel energetic, and not hungry, cranky, tired or overweight.

I can still wear clothes from 30 years ago too, but had to get rid of some of them, because c’mon the disco era is over!

It was sad though because I really dug that metallic disco dress!

If you are serious about losing weight or gaining good health and energy, you need to have a plan of action.

Before you take your next bite or plan your next meal, ask yourself if what you are eating is good for your body or extend your life?

Will it give you energy, create unwanted pounds, or make you tired or moody?

Yes, salty, cheesy, saucy, sugary food tastes so good…but…you know what’s better than that?

It’s the consistent feeling of energy that lasts all day.

Eating to live is the way to go!! Eat nutrient rich foods, so you can live a longer, healthier life!

Here are 7 Reasons We Should Eat To Live:

  1. Increased Longevity and Good Quality of Life
  2. More Energy During The Day
  3. Save Money On Medical Bills
  4. Better Chance Of Avoiding Sickness and Disease
  5. Look Better In Clothes
  6. Optimal Blood Panel Results
  7. Better Mental Health

If you “Eat To Live” it doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy yourself!

In fact, you can enjoy yourself more because you won’t be as tired!

If you “Eat To Live” it doesn’t mean that you have to eat lettuce all day long.

There are all kinds of recipes that you can find on the Internet that are “delicious”, “nutritious” AND “healthy”.

Do some serious research!

If you “Eat To Live” it doesn’t mean that you can’t be sociable with friends at restaurants. Google restaurants online before you go and decide ahead of time what to order from the menu.

If you “Eat To Live” it doesn’t mean you are going to starve! High fiber foods will keep you full longer!

Why not start the New Year out right? It’s time to get serious about getting healthy and feeling your best!

Eat good tasting, nutrient rich foods for a month and see how you feel! I bet you will sleep better, feel energetic, and be more alert!

How can anything be more important than that?  Watch the video below!

Here’s my #1 Secret!

Yes, eating nutrient rich foods is the way to go.

My #1 Secret and the easiest way to eat those delicious foods is to assemble your food, cook in advance and eat on a schedule!

Here’s a video that I made a while back, on how I assemble oatmeals in advance.

The best reason for cooking in advance is that you don’t have to stare at your refrigerator or stove every single day wondering what to make.

It’s already done!

I also make lunches and dinners this way and it’s become a routine.

The whole process takes an hour twice a week!

no sugar, no alcohol, no soda

If you can take meds on a schedule and brush your teeth and go to bed the same time every night, you can “eat on a schedule“.

Eating on a schedule and cooking in advance has kept me at a low weight for over 25 years!

Here’s a helpful handout “18 Rules For Healthy Organized Eating” that you can download and print.

As a side note, in my quest to experience “optimal” health and wellness, I removed sugar, soda and alcohol from of my diet many years ago, and I honestly don’t miss them at all!

My purpose for creating this healthy living blog is to share my experience of what wellness feels like!

Wellness feels fantastic!

Below are a few more items that continuously contribute to my health and wellness journey:
